It was a very emotional performance the one we attended last week at Palace, where we mostly enjoyed the drama abilities of the dancers rather than their dancing expertise. The choreography presented the tragic story of the young lovers by focusing on the love-hate relationships between them and their families and by emphasizing firstly on the dramatization of expressions and secondly or should I say lastly on the dance itself which featured an inferior role to the whole performance perhaps due to the not so bright dancers -with the exception of the ethereal Kristina Kretova-. Nevertheless, the overall performance was lovely and touching, thank god for Palace that is to say, which by its reopening allow as to watch some ballet even in the winter apart from the National Opera plays. The hall was perfect from an audiovisual point of view even for those sitting at the back while the “ambience” created by the known-unknown frequenters (sad but true) old ladies and their virtually dragged there escorts (who fall asleep at their chairs) is priceless. While enjoying the play, I remembered the “Romeo + Juliet” Buz Luhrmann film I watched 10 years ago, that I had really loved, although the actors were speaking like Master Yoda, and until the film “The Beach” came out, I was referring to Leonardo (all time favorite) as Romeoooo! Pls check here an all time classic Juliet, Maya Plisetskaya dancing with the Classical Ballet of Moscow generation of yours and ruling!
